Meetings

Our next PA meeting will be the AGM to be held at 7pm on Monday, October 8th. All welcome.

Careers Forum

The Guidance Department, in conjunction with the Parents Association, is hosting a Careers Forum for senior cycle students (TY, 5th, 6th and LCA) on Saturday morning, October 6th, 2018.

The students already answered a survey to give their 1st, 2nd and 3rd preferences on career choices. The results were collated and grouped into general career areas such as Education, Medical, Social careers etc. Each group will consist of 4/5 careers / jobs.

We have sourced speakers to attend the forum to give a 5/6 minute overview of their experience and knowledge regarding their job / training / leaving cert subjects. There will be time in each session for students to ask questions.

Students have requested that the speakers are mainly past pupils who are in their 3rd / 4th year in college or who have graduated and are in a job for the last few years.

Two sessions of each group will be held. The first round of sessions will start at 10am followed by 2nd round at 11am.

A second survey is going out to students this week for them to confirm the two sessions each student would like to attend.

On the day, teas / coffees will be served from 9am for the speakers who are freely giving of their time to attend.

There will be chairperson in each room to introduce the speakers, open up questions to the floor and keep time.

If you feel you would like to get involved, please contact Oonagh on 086-8330017.

Many thanks!
