Learning support is offered at St Mary’s from 1st to 3rd year. The school believes that to be successful at school, children must believe that they are capable and they must be helped to act on that belief.
How Learning Support Works:- Learning support gives students not only help in the basics but gives them the confidence and courage they need to taste success at their own level. As self-esteem grows, a sense of competence empowers them in their own self-development.
The school recognises that all students learn at different paces and gaps in learning can occur for various reasons. Extra time can make a big difference as students gain confidence when they can cope with suitable material.
Availing of Learning Support:- At St Mary’s new 1st years do an entrance test. At the first mid-term we look at how individual students are coping. Students, if they wish to avail of extra support may then with the consent of parents/guardians, drop German. The three periods of German are used for extra help in Maths and English. Students may also avail of help in 2nd and 3rd year if necessary.
